Senator Daniel Olugbenga Aluko

Born on the 20th of July 1963 to the family of Professor and Mrs Sam Aluko, renowned economist, academician and politician.

Senator Daniel Olugbenga AlukoHe was educated at the University of Ife Staff School, Federal Government College, Ilorin and Graduated in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Benin, Benin City in 1982.

He did a specialist Post Graduate Course in International Oil Trading and Pricing from the prestigious College of Energy and Petroleum Studies, Oxford, England. He is married with children.

Seasoned public officer, businessman and politician and became the youngest Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1999, and only PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) candidate to win an election in South West Nigeria. He became Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Vice Chairman of Senate Services Committee, Vice Chairman of Gas Committee, Member of Selection Committee and Chairman of Petroleum Committee as well as member of numerous committees of the Senate between 1999 and 2003.

Between 1983 and 1999, he was Managing Director/CEO of HYGYNIX Limited, Executive Director, Baseline Petroleum and Chemicals Limited, Executive Chairman Independent Strategists Limited, Alsteg and Midlands Limited and was Special Assistant to the Minister of Transport and Aviation and General Manager Nigeria Shipper’s Council 1993-1995. Till date he has controlling shares and interest in Alsteg and Midlands Limited, a successful Water/Civil Engineering Firm involved also in Renewable Energy. A Director of Crest Healthcare Limited, a UK based healthcare firm and Consultant to DFID on Parliamentary Matters.

Senator D.O (Gbenga) Aluko is currently Director of Government Affairs with Chevron Nigeria Mid Africa Strategic Business Unit (NMA SBU), the American Multinational Energy Corporation.
